Oh, Magnify the lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!
Psalm 34:3

WE ARE...
Humble Servants: We serve from a position of humility, recognizing that our talents and gifts are not something to be used for our own glory but rather, for the glory of God and the good of His church (John 13:16). We admit when we make mistakes and quickly forgive when other members make mistakes (Colossians 3:13). We lay down our personal preferences for the good of the team and the edification of the church body (Philippians 2:4). We fight against personal ego and pride that might lead us towards cynicism or arrogance (Romans 12:3).
Called Leaders: We recognize that our leadership is not primarily a result of our personal ability or accomplishments. Our leadership is entrusted to us by God for the care and building up of His church. Therefore we seek to honor this calling by keeping a close watch on our lives and our doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16) both on and off the stage, so that we are leading people into an experience of Christ whether they encounter us on Sunday, or on Monday through Saturday.
Thoughtful Creatives: Our God is a majestic creator (Revelation 4:11) and He has created us with an ability to image His creativity to the world around us (Genesis 1:27) through the art of music. We engage with that gift joyfully and intentionally as we strive for excellence in our musicianship and songwriting (1 Corinthians 10:31). We engage with that gift thoughtfully as we humbly acknowledge that not ever act of creativity or art will be useful in the congregational worship (1 Corinthians 10:23) and so humbly submit our art to the direction of the pastors and elders who have been called to shepherd and lead at RCC (Hebrews 13:17).
A Community: Before we are musicians, we are friends who have been made family in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:19). We treat one another with love and respect. We seek to encourage one another towards growth in both spiritual and musical excellence. We seek to live in harmony with one another, to not take offense easily, to forgive quickly, and to love sacrificially. We strive to give and receive feedback and direction with gentleness and humility. We celebrate one another's victories and support one another in our weaknesses. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

WHAT TO EXPECT
Rhythms of Scheduling
We typically schedule our worship teams out quarterly. We use Planning Center to schedule all our volunteers and members of the team are expected to respond to the service requests in a timely manner. We ask our team members to keep an updated list of blockout dates for their Planning Center profiles so that we can be aware of upcoming dates that they are unavailable to serve. Service requests are typically sent out one month before the upcoming quarter to ensure that members of the team have plenty of time to respond to the request. We understand that changes happen and ask that our team members arrange replacements for any of their previously accepted service dates that they are unable to fulfill.
Rhythms of Preparation & Rehearsal
We expect that team members will be committed to personal preparation in the weeks and days leading up to a scheduled service date. To help them in their personal practice we provide set lists to the scheduled team members a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of their service date. These set lists are accompanied by chord charts and isolated tracks found in Planning Center to assist in their personal practice. On the week leading up to their service date team members are also provided with detailed production notes for the songs and flow of the service.
Our teams rehearse on Sunday afternoons on the day of their scheduled service date. Call time for sound check and rehearsal is 2pm and our goal is to have rehearsal wrapped up by 3:30pm. Because of the limited time for rehearsal, team members are expected to arrive on time and prepared. This allows the rehearsal to flow smoothly and shows a general respect for the time of the other volunteers and team members scheduled on that day.

Rhythms of Service & Rest
We work hard to ensure that the members on our team have healthy rhythms of service and rest in place. This means that you will typically be scheduled to serve once or twice a month leaving two or three Sundays of the month available for rest and engagement in worship with the rest of the congregation.
On scheduled service dates team members are expected to arrive on time (2pm) for sound check and rehearsal. We will typically finish rehearsal around 3:30pm and then at 3:50pm we circle up with the worship and production teams to walk through the order of service and get everyone on the same page. At 4pm we gather with the rest of the volunteers to pray and prepare our hearts to serve. At 4:25pm the worship team meets backstage to sync up and pray one last time before taking the stage. Our services typically wrap up by 6pm but we encourage our team members to see their ministry as continuing during the time following the service and to use that time to connect with other members of the church and/or guests.
